Default Small guild problem

With the guild wars set up its hard to start a new guild unless u have a group of people set on being in that guild from the start. I started a guild for me and some friends that have been guild mates in other games, we await other members that are still playing the rest of their pay accounts before coming to guild wars. Untill that time we are stuck as a small guild.

To help with this problem i think that the ways in order to make a guild sould been more than 200 gold. Someone said it before maybe a quest or something which takes time to stop anyone from making a guild. Or a way for small guilds to talk to one another and mabye join. Going back to shadowbane. People were joined under 2 different symbols. The nation they where from, and a small guild that was within that nation. Alloying for bigger groups. Of course could always take the easy way out and quite the guild and join one that is already big.

Anyone else having this probelm. no one wants to join a small guild want one that is huge already.

As an officer of a small 11 member guild, I think small guilds area actually better to get to know each other, and we don't recruit random people in town and stuff, which will probably get you a big guild with undedicated and unsociable members. Be patient, and the respectable players will come to you. Of course, PvP will be a problem with a small guild, but the environment will be much better.

I find that in the time it takes for the respectable players to "come to you," other members might leave to find bigger guilds to be a part of. I've also found that most of the respectable players have already been gobbled up by guilds, leaving a very small number for those smaller guilds. Starting a guild has almost become futile.

You also leave yourself and guild open to assault in order to gain some active members. i and my guild had just that happen we recruited a guy from some other place and he wanted to be an officer so he waited out our trial period and became officer and as soon as he did he kicked every member out of my guild and we had to start over now we got 20 or so members but none really dedicated to the game like before. i wish the old members weren't so bitter lol. i guess we fubar'd ourselves

Wow...now that isn't ordinary, but yea, I only recruit if i've done a mission or two with them and they seem okay. Of course promoting anyone to officer gives them power they can abuse, so pick your members carefully.

Wow Malic,

That's a horrible story. I just don't understand griefers at all. It's got to be some fundamental mental weakness in their character.

I'm in a guild with a few people from work - we only really get to play evenings and weekend - its a nightmare trying to get people to join they either want you to already have a guild hall - or have team speak - or be able to help them lvl their character to 20 (cheaters method - no no) - its hard finding part-time gamers

I think 200 gold is fine. The purpose of setting a guild is to have a group of friends playing missions starting from day 1. That's what A-net is hoping for. So low price for guild registry allows people to start and join a guild early and a small guild certainly fosters that kind of atmosphere. I too like a small guild that meets constantly over a large guild where you don't know anyone. Besides, a small guild is more friendly and cares more about its individual members than a large one. I always hate those guilds that like to threaten their members with kicking. Who do they think they are, some kind of fascist or communist party?? For those who like to join a famous large guild, I say let them, and you certainly won't miss them. They are just out chasing fame and rank and not in making friends.

you should be able to advertise your guild at the guild registra - maybe display the contents of your guilds charter too (which doesn't allow for near enough text btw) - so you can ask for invites to join other guilds?

I agree that is is hard to get players to join small guilds, I'm glad I made mine the day it was released, and now sit nicely at around 30 active members, makes for good GvG. But if you recruit in Pre-Searing, you can still get a bunch of newer players, no guarantee they will keep playing or stay with you though.

Yea, tired recruiting in pre and got a few guys, most of them just make new chars, and do pre over and over, and recruiting in post is hard everyone wants bigger guild, once i say we only have a handfull of active its sorry o. Out of the 13 people about 5 including myself are active. only 2 of the 5 besides myself have high lvl. i have 20 e/mo 20 r/e and 16 mo/n. I guess will just stick it out till more old guild mates start playing.

I am not a part time gamer, i work 8:30 to 4:30 at a software company then come home and pla for usually 5 hrs. G/f is from school and lives 4 hrs away so do not see her. and friends work till 9-10 so have the 5-10 span with nothing to do. My other guild mates on about the same time 5-10 and see one or 2 on like 2 in the morning some times.

well, sometimes small guilds can be pretty effective, when i started my guild.. well, (its my friend's guild now that i gave him leadership ever since i started working), we were made of 5 friends. we picked up a pretty cool guy and we've done fairly well in the guild battles with 6 members and 2 hench. couple of times we've won when some members were disconnected. so, i guess having a small guild allows everyone to build chemistry with one another.

I do agree with the above, yet I still see the enjoyment, ease and usefulness of larger guild numbers. I've got an issue where our guild is still small and my husband is guild leader, I'm an officer but we only have one computer (meaning we can't play at the same time), if/when a member becomes active enough and has established enough trust with in the guild to become an officer I will step down or we'll buy a second computer (which ever happens first)

And I do agree with the fact that it is hard enough to be a gammer and still be a responsible adult, let alone being a gammer, responsible adult and active guild member (or leader)

Im also part of a small guild. We all know eachother IRL, but will expand in a little bit. We were going to buy a hall but saw no reason for it as we have small amount of people. Although we have a .com name and forums, we will probably start looking for other smaller guilds to merge with us.

Well, i would suggest to merge with other guilds... no joke...

First off, me and three others from a beta guild (which was completely un-active, so we couldnt change the cape, or invite those we wanted...) but anyhow... we left, and started our guild of four people, and invited quite a few people at random, but we sort through them by kicking if they're rude/too immature... but yea, now we're up to 40 members strong, 35 active every day... and we're quite a talkative bunch... currently 6 officers (leader and one officer of the other guild we merge with were promoted to instant officers), but ya... if you just talk to some of the other small guilds, you'll find that alot of them arent actually that attached to their names... and will be willing to merge to have a bigger more social guild.

We are currently accepting no more members in order to completely socialize and get to know eachother... better off for guild vs guild battles, and we require anyone in our guild who wants to do gvg to win a sigil first, with our guild, we would never suggest to buy a sigil... whats the point... If your ready for the great pvp of Guilds vs Guilds, then you should be able to take the sigil without a problem... And that's exactly how our old beta guild became within rank 100 in the beta...
